Job Summary**

As a Senior Consultant, Field Service Engineer at Ciena Communications, Inc., you will be a critical member of our customer-facing team, responsible for the successful deployment, optimization, and support of Ciena's cutting-edge networking solutions. You will leverage your deep technical expertise and exceptional interpersonal skills to ensure customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Job Responsibilities**

* Lead and execute complex hardware installations, configurations, and upgrades for Ciena’s networking equipment at customer sites.
* Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for Ciena products and solutions, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
* Design and implement technical solutions for customer networks, including detailed technical solution design and network architecture recommendations.
* Perform network management system (NMS) integration and optimization, ensuring seamless operation and monitoring of customer networks.
* Configure and troubleshoot various network protocols, with a strong emphasis on routing and switching technologies.
* Collaborate effectively with internal teams (e.g., engineering, sales, project management) and external stakeholders to achieve project goals.
* Communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely through written documentation (technical writing) and impactful presentation delivery.
* Manage stakeholder expectations and build strong, lasting interpersonal relationships with customers and partners.
* Act as a trusted technical advisor, identifying and resolving problems efficiently and effectively.
* Negotiate technical requirements and solutions with customers, ensuring alignment with Ciena's capabilities and customer needs.
* Proactively identify and manage potential conflicts, seeking mutually beneficial resolutions.

Job Qualifications**

* Proven experience in a field service engineering role, with a strong background in hardware installations and technical support for networking equipment.
* Extensive knowledge of network protocols and hands-on experience with routing and switching technologies.
* Demonstrated expertise in network management system (NMS) operation and integration.
* Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
* Strong technical solution design capabilities.
* Excellent communication, presentation delivery, and technical writing skills.
* Proven ability to build and maintain strong interpersonal relationships and manage stakeholders effectively.
* Experience in conflict management and negotiation within a customer-facing environment.
* A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

The annual pay range for this position is $114,700 - $183, 300 USD

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
