Analytics Engineer II - Regulatory Reporting

$135,000 - $150,000 Remote: ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ USA Full-Time

At Underdog, we make sports more fun.

Our thesis is simple: build the best product for sports fans and we will win the space. Founded in 2020, we're one of the fastest-growing sports companies ever, and thereโ€™s still so much left to do. We've built and scaled products across fantasy sports, sports betting, and prediction markets, all united in one app thatโ€™s seamless, intuitive, and actually fun to use.

Underdog isnโ€™t for everyone. One of our core values is give a sh*t. The people who win here are the ones who care, push, and perform. Weโ€™re remote-first by design, but highly collaborative with regular in-person gatherings that help teams build, iterate, and move fast together.

Got that dog in you? Join us.

After all, winning as an Underdog is more fun.

What you'll do:

As an Analytics Engineer II on our Regulatory Reporting team, you'll play a hands-on role in building the data platform that powers Underdog's prediction markets business. This is a zero-to-one opportunity. We're scaling fast and building the regulatory reporting infrastructure from the ground up. You'll work across engineering, product, compliance, and senior leadership, getting first-hand exposure to how a federally regulated prediction markets exchange runs and what it takes to keep it running.

The end goal is a fully automated reporting platform: purpose-built dbt models, automated validations, and pipelines that run without manual intervention. You'll build toward that from day one while doing the hands-on investigation work that teaches you exactly what needs to be built and why.

  • Run daily validation across our regulatory reporting submissions, verify accuracy, flag breaks, and own triage when something looks off.
  • Investigate data issues end-to-end: get into the raw data, follow the problem wherever it goes, document findings, and hand the team something specific to act on.
  • Build and maintain dbt models purpose-built for regulatory reporting, slim, tested, connected directly to raw data, and resilient to upstream changes.
  • Implement automated test cases and validations that catch recurring issues before they become problems.
  • Support pre-launch submission validation, audit requests, and legal and state data pulls as the function grows.
  • Own the feedback loop with product and engineering: monitor upstream changes, anticipate their impact on reporting, and raise issues before they hit a deadline.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation with the broader team.

Who you are:

  • Builder: You want to build a platform, not run a checklist. You think in systems and automation, and you take pride in making things more reliable over time.
  • Strong SQL: You're comfortable writing complex queries, getting into raw data, and following a problem wherever it goes.
  • Engineering-minded: You think in pipelines and you want to build things that don't need babysitting. You have hands-on experience with dbt.
  • Reliable under deadline: You understand what it means to own something with a hard cutoff. You stay calm, move fast, and communicate early when something looks off.
  • Excited by the scope: You want a role where your work touches engineering, product, compliance, and leadership. You thrive when you can see how everything connects.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience in a federally regulated environment at a prediction markets platform, fintech, crypto exchange, or neobank.
  • Experience in the sports industry, particularly fantasy sports or sports betting.
  • Background in reconciliation, trade-level reporting, or data validation work.
  • Hands-on experience with Airflow or similar orchestration tooling.
  • Experience with data contracts, schema registries, or similar approaches to managing upstream data dependencies.
  • Any exposure to prediction markets, derivatives, or exchange operations.
  • Experience in a role with on-call responsibilities or SLA-driven data work.

Our target starting base salary range for this position is between $135,000 and $150,000, plus target equity.Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, skills and expertise, interview performance, and other market considerations.

What we can offer you:

  • Unlimited PTO for full-time employees (we're extremely flexible with the exception of the first few weeks before and into the NFL season)
  • 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave
  • Home office stipend
  • A virtual-first culture, but we come together a few times per year in person for offsites, trainings, hackathons, and more
  • Slack reactions for every occasion
  • 401k with up to 5% employer match
  • Company paid health, dental, vision plan options for employees and dependents, FSA, and more
  • Opportunity to celebrate your favorite sports teams through local meetups and company-sponsored events
  • Claude and ChatGPT enterprise accounts
